Infinity: HexaDome Tactics is the upcoming 1v1 turn-based tactical strategy game set within the iconic universe of Infinity, a tabletop war game. Players fight in the HexaDome, a futuristic arena inspired by the Aristeia! Board game where every move and decision can change the course of the battle in a combat style similar to the beloved XCOM series. It’s a simple and familiar style of tactical strategy but, HexaDome Tactics is difficult to master. There’s no release date yet but, HexaDome Tactics will release later in 2026.
HexaDome Tactics is set in the universe of Infinity that blends science fiction, high-tech and deep socio-pollical dynamics together. Infinity is focused on the Human Sphere, a collection of human-controlled star systems where a complex collection of factions have emerged with their own characteristics, technologies, cultures and motivations are emerged. A mix of human groups and different alien species that must live and fight together or, against each other.
While the tabletop game has grown a strong story over the past 20 years, HexaDome Tactics is currently a little bit lacking here. The game hasn’t been released yet and there’s not much information yet about the story. It’s been confirmed there is a single-player campaign mode and more information will be released layer this year.

HexaDome Tactics is a tactics first strategy game where players pick their team from a range of champions. Each champion plays a role such as ranged combat, support, melee and, area control with each character having unique abilities. The arena battlefield is a compact hexagon grid where the player must move their champions around the grid to carefully position them to attack and defend.
It plays similar to the XCOM series where characters take turns to move across the grid, take cover to reduce damage or avoid attack and also to attack the enemy. Action points are used to dictate how much each player can do per round which forces a lot of slow, strategic movements to push forwards, reposition, take cover and attack. HexaDome Tactics rewards players for planning ahead and thinking in sequences to react to the opponent and build towards creating an advantage. The game places emphasis on executing a well-thought out plan and discourages reacting in the moment.
While eliminating the opponent is a big part of the game, there are also different objectives that support the emphasis on strategy over muscle. Players need to capture zones and complete objectives to control the flow of the match. There are also sponsor challenges and crowd hype mechanics that can provide bonuses or tactical cards mid-match which can change the course of the game.
Infinity: HexaDome Tactics does have a story-driven campaign mode to introduce the Infinity universe and champions however, the core experience is in the PvP Duels. Players can fight each other to refine their strategies and team compositions in friendly duels or try to climb the competitive ladder.
In conclusion Queenie and I absolutely loved our closed playtest time with Infinity: HexaDome Tactics. We both grew up with turn-based games and adore new entries to the genre and with their already established strong story lore HexaDome Tactics will definitely prove its mark. If you’d like to get your hands on an early preview head over to their Steam store and hit the Wishlist for more information on May 25th public playtest tournament!
