Kepler Interactive
In Cat Quest III you play as a purrivateer in a freely explorable 2.5D open-world swarming with Pi-rats. You can sail the seas in your ship for treasures galore! But prepare for peril, as the Pirate King aims to hunt you down…
Cat Quest III is the latest instalment of the incredible Cat Quest series, developed by The Gentlebros. Like the others, it’s a charming game filled with action and adventure, along with even more Cat Quest humour. While Cat Quest is known for being a superb single-player series but there is also a shared/split-screen co-op. This settles puurfect for being a couch co-op.
Playing as a swashbuckling purrivateer, you’ll be exploring the pirate-themed world of the Purribean this time. As you explore the 2.5D open-world archipelago, you’ll compete with Pi-rats, seeking the long-lost treasure of the Northern Star. Don’t expect an easy journey; the Pirate King wants your head!
Being an RPG, the story in Cat Quest III is very important, so we’ve tried not to spoil it here. There’s no need to have played the previous games to understand and enjoy the latest title in the series.
Pros
Adorable graphics
Charming humour
Fast-paced combat
Open world
Split-screen Co-op
Cons
Short story time
Not enough Meows
No online co-op
Cat Quest III feels familiar yet different with its newly refined combat system, which highlights tighter attack combos and weapon swapping. The system is easy to learn, making it very accessible, but that doesn’t mean the game is easy by any stretch. Cat Quest III is an adorable game filled with danger across biomes, dungeons, and while sailing the sea. Players can battle with their ship for the first time in the series before jumping onto land to hunt for treasure.
Treasure hunting and taking on quests are natural parts of the game, alongside exploring the vast world in search of the Northern Star. It’s a classic RPG where you’ll need to seek out information that will help your quest while upgrading your gear, customizing your loadout, hitting new milestones and getting distracted from all the other things to do.
Overall Cat Quest III is adorable and I love how they’ve taken the best features from previous games and improved upon them. The graphics are amazing and the combat system is fast paced. The achievements in Cat Quest 3 are for completing just about everything and it works well. Get every bounty reward, find every item in the game, and complete a lot of side quests before finishing the game because after you finish, you can’t go back into your save file. The game will give you one warning about this, so make sure you don’t skip text so you don’t miss this.
Cat Quest III easily deserves 4 out of 5 stars and I hope we will see many more Cat Quest sequels. Look out for our Twitter giveaways where you can win a copy of Cat Quest III yourself!
