Bureau of Contacts

MIROWIN

IT sees you, IT hears you, IT talks, IT has different temperaments, IT understands the context of what you said and makes appropriate decisions based on this. THERE ARE NO ANY LIMITS in this ghost-hunting co-op game.

Still in Early Access, Bureau of Contacts is an interesting game that still needs some work but looks incredibly promising. Brand new to the ghost hunting genre, it stands out for its incredible Ghost AI system and that give Bureau of Contacts a clear step a head others that have emerged over the past few years. Despite being in a very early alpha stage, the game does run well and is very entertaining. Like similar games, this plays best with friends in a co-op fashion form with up to 4 players.

There isn’t a story for the Bureau of Contacts but instead each ghost in the game has a backstory for players to uncover, and the information will help remove the ghost during the exorcism.

Currently, there are 3 maps; large manor, horrific bunker and an insane asylum each with multiple floors and lots of rooms to investigate. The ghosts are the real threat in this game however it is important to note that sometimes an investigator will receive an Among Us style role with the goal to tamper with the exorcism. Each ghosts have different abilities that slow down your progress and if angered enough over voice – might even kill you!

Pros

Intelligent ghosts

4 player co-op

Different types of ghosts with different abilities

Proximity chat

Cons

Very Early Access

Limited maps

Good features but limited

The ghosts here aren’t completely unique, like in some other games. They share personality effects, which makes it harder to identify them. This also makes it impossible to memorize the ghosts’ behaviours and avoid needing to find the background evidence. This is massive for replayability. In other ghost hunting games – we have friends who have played so much can just walk into a house a say yes its this type of ghost, which immediately kills the gameplay. Audio is crucial with solving the puzzle through ghost noises using the spirit box, and proximity chat.

What sets the ghosts in the Bureau of Contacts apart is the advanced neural network that powers them. This AI is more sophisticated than what you’d find in other similar games. It actively listens to everything said through proximity chat and can understand if players are hostile, reacting accordingly. It uses AI-generated content to interact with players, creating highly intelligent entities that will hunt, trap, and kill players to avoid being exorcised. This level of AI is truly impressive and adds a new dimension to the gameplay.

We’ll be playing more Bureau of Contacts this Halloween with friends on Discord. Feel free to enter our Twitter giveaway in partnership with Mirowin, giving you a chance to get your hands on this game for free!
