REAP: We Reap What Crawls

Tbjbu2

Descend into shifting dungeons with friends to capture terrifying monsters and imprison them in your decaying basement lair. Farm, feed, breed and sacrifice them to crazy weird buyers around the world. Think R.E.PO meets Slime Rancher with a unique twist of 4 cooperative horror dungeon crawling, farming and creature collection!

REAP: We Reap What Crawls is an upcoming spooky dungeon crawler blends creature collection with farming to create a unique single player experience that can be shared with others in co-op. There’s still no official release date yet but, the demo is fantastic but only giving us a small slice of what the full release will offer us later this year.

You and your friends are hired to explore haunted and cursed locations where you must descend into procedurally generated dungeons to not just locate but to trap the dangerous monsters and take them back to your decaying basement lair. You’re goal is to imprison them, farm cursed crops for them to eat and breed then sell the strange creatures to eccentric buyers from around the world.

This upcoming indie title has a lot to offer already. Combining R.E.P.O with Slime Rancher, the game is split between crawling through dungeons and caring for your captured monsters. Dungeons are procedurally generated and full of resources to collect while you seek out the monsters, throw objects at them and eventually trap to bring back to base. Each dungeon run feels different and has a lot to offer. More dungeons will be unlocked as the game goes on, allowing you to dive deeper in search of scarier and more valuable monsters!

Pros

Solo and co-op mode

Various monsters to collect

Multiple upgrades

Fun range of elements

Dark horror

Cons

Early Access

Small map selection

Limited animations

After collecting monsters, you can grow cursed crops to feed them and collect more dark resources to improve your base. Prospective buyers will call you to place their orders for creatures which can be sold to them. However, you can also kill monsters to feed them to other caged monsters and even sacrifice them at the altar to create upgrades. There are lots of monsters to collect and rare variations of them too such as shiny or much more aggressive one. The developer has also confirmed that baby monsters will be in the game and you’ll be able to raise them from rare eggs.

Upgrading and expanding your base is a must It allows you to get more cages to hold more monsters, improves your gear to make capturing them easier and also make your base a lot more efficient. Automation is also possible which makes managing everything a lot easier as you progress through the game.

Inconclusion this REAP makes a brilliant additional to your horror co-op library. I found the basement liar and the entire farming creatures mechanic to be super unique to the genre. The developer also plans on adding in more maps, gadgets and more. Due to release Q4 of 2025, if you’re a fan of Phasmophobia, Lethal Company or R.E.P.O its a guarantee you’ll love REAP: We Reap What Crawls!
