The Mosquito Gang
Space Raccoon Game Studio
The year is 2025.. probably. Humans have created the ultimate mosquito repellent but the bugs are biting back. Battle in the lead scientist house and play as a bloodthirsty mosquito or the super smart human in this fast-paced, asymmetric multiplayer game where you’ll have to slap and dodge to unlock cosmetics and survive!
The Mosquito Gang is a multiplayer game focused on having silly fun with friends. This is an asymmetrical 1v4 PvP game where four Mosquito players must try to overcome the stronger Human character. It’s a very different type of “Extraction” multiplayer game. Created by indie developer Space Raccoon Game Studio, The Mosquito Gang is a hilarious game that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
The Mosquito Gang is a multiplayer but it does have a tiny plot to explain why the mosquitos are attacking one human en masse. Players control one of four elite, highly-trained mosquitoes during their final attack of a desperate war against a horrific human-made threat: an insect repellent so powerful and effective, that it could wipe out all bugs. Meanwhile, the human character is humanity’s last line of defence against the mosquitos and must protect the repellent.
This isn’t an important story and doesn’t make much difference when it comes to enjoying the chaotic and ridiculous game.
Pros
Silly chaotic fun
Simple controls
Easy to learn
Fast-paced
Multiplayer party
Cons
Clunky flying controls
Missing UI for tasks
Graphical visual errors
The mosquito players need to land on the Human and successfully drain their blood so they can unlock abilities and evolve mid-match before the repellent is live. There are a lot of useful passive buffs, speed boosts and bite upgrades but there are also some hilariously overpowered abilities like invisibility, teleportation and party heal. There are also side objectives for the mosquito team to complete such as unplugging fumigators.
Meanwhile, the Human is armed with an hilarious arsenal of weapons and gadgets to fight off the horde of relentless, buzzing mosquitoes. However, there’s a catch. The Human needs to complete chores to earn cash so they can spend it on all kinds of crazy weapons ranging from slightly inconvenient items to wildly illegal.
We found the gameplay very simple, making it fun to learn and the maps in the game are both wacky creative and detailed. Currently theres only 3 maps but each one is themed differently and contains all kinds of potential problems for both the bug team and the poor Human. Player with a strategy can find fun here too as there are a lot of potential builds and strategies to implement which makes each game feel different to the last while still being ridiculous fun!
At the moment, there doesn’t appear to be a pacifist mode or options in the game. It’s purely bug-slapping and dramatic kicking fun. The developer has been quick to drop hot fixes as needed and it seems likely that more content will be added to the game in the future. However, it’s likely to remain a multiplayer-only game.
Queenie and I found The Mosquito Gang super fun game but if you’re picking up this game keep in mind that’s it’s not perfect. The mosquito controls can feel a bit clunky while flying however the developers quickly released a hotfix to smooth this. We’re still missing the Human side tasks HUD too but, that doesn’t stop The Mosquito Gang from being good silly fun with friends!
