Fractured Veil is an MMO survival game that dumps players into the aftermath of a global apocalypse that’s turned Hawaii into a deadly paradise. It offers everything expected of a typical survival game and there’s still work to do on the game with a lot more updates to come. Currently, Fractured Veil is in Early Access on Steam and has been for a few months.

Set 100 years in the future after a global apocalyptic event, Fractured Veil is contained to Maui and gives players full access to a 64 square KM map. The “fracture” event was a catastropic teleportation system failure that opened portals to other dimensions, bringing all kinds of creatures to Earth. It also led to the appearance of cannibalistic mutants and other humanoids from diferent dimensions.

Players take control of a new “clone”, restored from incomplete data courtesy of the mysterious Velicorp’s backup system. Without any real explanation, you’re dumped into the brutal world.

It’s a classic survival game where players need to explore, gather resources, craft items and build a home for themselves. Fractured Veil has PvE and PvP servers with the developers seeming to focus on the PvP side of the game. Each server can support up to 500 players making it one of the largest survival games around.

Unlike most other survival games, this one has an RPG-inspired player progression system complete with talents, abilities and skills to unlock. It also has a quest system similar to RPGs to help push players in the right direction. Players can also swap between first person and third person modes. Autonomous AI drones patrol the map constantly and stream gameplay live to Twitch in real-time offering a unique way to view the game. The action is filmed in different camera modes including night-vision and spotlight to ensure all the PvPvE action can be seen.

Fractured Veil is in early access and similar to 7 Days to Die, DayZ and Rust it will definitely appeal to those gamers who enjoy growing with this very promising survival game. Queenie and I thoroughly enjoyed playing and fingers crossed that Fractured Veil’s player base will explode in the near future!
