Content Warning
Landfall Publishing
Get famous or die trying! Content Warning is a co-op horror game where you film your friends doing scary things, go viral and become Spooktube famous!
Content Warning is a new co-op horror game that rivals Lethal Company and Phasmophobia while adding cryptids into the mix. The aim is simple. Take the plunge into the Old World with your friends, record scary stuff, upload it for views and become internet famous.
Become content creators with your friends by trying to make spooky videos to upload to the Internet for views. You have three days to record videos and get views by recording scary stuff to win. Getting views also means ad revenue to spend on upgrading gear to film higher-quality videos and a better chance of survival in the Old World.
There’s no real official story here (yet), but it honestly doesn’t need one. The lack of an explanation works well here. As the goal is to record content, your group is given a handheld working video camera to take into the Old World on your hunt for scary stuff. The camera has limited recording capability with a short battery/video storage space; the person holding the camera needs to decide what to film and can even shoot in selfie mode when running for their life. If at least one of your group escapes the Old World with the camera, you can throw it in the box to get the recording’s CD and then watch it back together on the TV alongside some comments from ‘viewers’.
Pros
Fun light hearted horror
Progress with new equipment
Watch recordings back and save them
Co-op focused but can play alone
Cons
Game work in progress
Role play is involved
Cryptids can be easily avoided
It’s a simple concept, and there’s little gameplay outside of recording a video, running from scary monsters and earning ad revenue to buy stuff for the videos. This really isn’t a bad thing, though. Content Warning is all about friends acting silly and pretending to be influencers, leading to goofy situations that can leave players laughing until they cry.
While Content Warning is best played with friends, it can also be played alone. The game is designed for a 2-4 player group, and the first task will encourage you to invite another player. However, you can ignore this and go to the Old World alone and become a horror content superstar.
